Okay, first things first. This is not your usual romantic film. This film actually depicts the tragedy of Russian aristocrat and socialite Anna Karenina and her life-changing affair with the affluent Count Vronsky. Not quite your typical happily-ever-after plot, but this film has earned four nominations at the 85th Academy Awards and six nominations at the 66th British Academy Film Awards, winning Jacqueline Durran both prizes for Best Costume Design, so you could say that this film is a rich source of wedding inspirations.

If you have a fine taste for grandeur, affluence, and elaborate, grandiose style, then an Anna Karenina inspired wedding will be best for you. Heavily inspired by the 17th century Baroque architecture, decorate your wedding with rich ornate decors (you can use ornamental jewelry as details too), and shower your reception area with abundant flowers and candles – think extravagant. I’m pretty sure your wedding will be glamorous, aristocratic and romantic all at the same time. For the mood board, I chose to veer towards a rather “tame” Anna Karenina inspired wedding. This is still opulent and elegant but the color palette is lighter compared to the usual burgundy color palette this wedding theme is associated with.
