Rise and shine lovelies! Let’s go all organic today and take a look on how to prettify those potted herbs/ succulents/ flowers/ (insert any plant name here).
Giving plants as wedding favors is not just Eco friendly but also practical, useful and I might add, unique - it’s not everyday you receive something “living”. For our wedding, we gave out varied potted herbs as favors to our guests, namely: Italian Oregano, Tarragon, Sweet Basil and Peppermint.

We made a trip to the city’s biggest plants supplier - the Manila Seedling Bank at Quezon City and made a little tour to their Herbs Section (the EDSA Garden House) where they cultivate and sell all kinds of herbs imaginable (and locally grown). I have to choose 4 kinds only so I had a hard time deciding which ones to pick. My first choice was Rosemary, it’s aesthetically pleasing when potted plus it’s very useful in the kitchen especially when cooking chicken or fish. So anyhow, they didn’t have enough supply of Rosemary at the time, thus explains its non-inclusion in my choice of herbs.

When you buy the herbs, they’ll be placed only in soft black plastic pots. So if you want to give out these babies as favors, you’ll have to chic them up for aesthetics’s sake. Here are my Top 4, very easy ways to make those Eco friendly treats actually go home with your guests:

1. Place your potted flowers in ceramic vases. Since this will be a bit pricey, double its use by using them first as table centerpieces and as wedding favors for later.

2. Create a mini glass garden or mini terrarium. Ask your supplier which flowers/ plants will be suitable for this project. (Tip: always, always ask your plants supplier questions like, Are these flowers easy to grow?, What time of the year do they bloom?, How much sunlight do these plants need?, How often does this succulent needs to be watered?, etc. The answers to these seemingly random questions will help you decide which plants to choose for favors.)

3. Wrap the pots with tissue (or burlap, or sinamay - note: material will depend on your theme) and twine (or ribbon) and clip your Thank You note with a mini wooden clothespin.

4. Place the herbs/ succulents in mini galvanized buckets, or in vintage ceramic tea cups, or in mini glass containers, or in terracotta pots (unleash your creative side! The possibilities may just be lying idly in your cabinets and are waiting to be used!).
